Crafting Culture, Sustainably and Skillfully
Meet the passionate artisans and creators behind our unique Colombian handicrafts.

Ivana Ochoa
Founder Of Ivana Oü And Artisan
I am a Colombian artist with Afro-Caribbean and Bari (South American indigenous) roots. I was born on the banks of the Magdalena and raised by the Cauca river. I went to university in Barranquilla, a port city known for its carnival and its extraordinarymulticultural history.I came to Estonia because of love.
My work is embedded in timeless stories of traditional culture that I want to share with you. I
want to bring beauty and joy to people who are curious and looking for simplicity, who don’t want to over-consume and would rather support original handicrafts than fast-fashion factories.Showcase the rich cultural heritage of my country.
Many know Pablo Escobar and have seen ‘Narcos’, a few Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s 100 Years of Solitude’ and its magical realism, but even the latter is just the tip of the iceberg – Colombia is very diverse, ethnically, culturally and in terms of natural biodiversity. That’s why l’ve included links on this webpage, which will give you an insight into my country, its people, culture, art and music.

Maria Coronado
Lead Artisan Epieyu Clan (La Guajira-Colombia)
María Coronado, from the Epieyu clan, Ahumado community near Riohacha, La Guajira, teaches crocheting at a rural school.
While knowledge and skills were previously passed down within the community, this tradition is now at risk of fading away – especially young mothers living in larger urban centers and their vicinity are no longer interested in teaching crocheting techniques to their children.

José Nilson
Lead Artisan Artesanias Renacer (Buenaventura- Colombia)
Werrengue artifacts are crafted by a group of 35 women artists who belong to the larger community of 268 Wounaan people, led by José Nilson. They were displaced from the Chargplen Tordó indigenous reserve in Chocó due to violence. Unfortunately, Colombia has one of the largest internally displaced populations in the world, totaling 6.8 million by the end of 2022.

Roserver Mendoza

his entire family has been dedicated to working with various caña flecha crafts for over 20 years.
